The Man of the Evening
A Life Well Played
Captain Kapil Nayyar spent decades commanding ships across the world's oceans — a career in the Merchant Navy that took him through monsoon seasons, long horizons, and ports on five continents. He learned early that a good captain keeps his crew steady when the weather isn't, and he has never stopped being that steady hand. Wherever life has carried him since, the sea's discipline lives in him: calm under pressure, generous with his time, and first to stand for the people he's responsible for.
And that brings us to the guests of this evening. You are here because you've been in his crew — his children, niece and nephew, friends, colleagues, and old shipmates — the people he has carried and who have carried him. Tonight, the captain stands down and lets his crew do the celebrating. So come easy, stay late, tell your best stories, and help us show the man who's kept our compass true just how well he's done it.
